A decision concerning Murray Middle School teacher Ann Greenfield's hearing before a Kentucky Department of Education tribunal will be announced soon.
Tina Drury, a spokeswoman for the department's Office of Legal Services, told the Murray Ledger & Times Thursday that the three-member committee hearing the case has five days to make a decision. The hearing officer's report will be made public shortly thereafter.
The hearing was held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Greenfield, 34, is seeking to keep her job as a physical education teacher Murray Middle School. She was arrested in February by Kentucky State Police for alleged possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She also was later charged with making a false statement to a Calloway County Grand Jury during an investigation of the incident.
Greenfield was subsequently indicted for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia - both misdemeanors - on March 26. She was initially charged with conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school when arrested, but the jury did not choose to indict her on that felony charge.
An evidence suppression hearing concerning the supposed illegal search of her vehicle and alleged evidence found by KSP took place in Calloway District Court May 17. Calloway District Judge Randy Hutchens is expected to rule on the motion soon.
