Chao to speak at MSU commencement Saturday

U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao will be a special guest of Murray State University at its 85th spring commencement celebration on Saturday at the Regional Special Events Center. The 2008 Spring Commencement and Investiture Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
Secretary Chao has accepted an invitation to speak during the program and will be presented an honorary degree on behalf of the MSU Board of Regents, President Randy Dunn and the faculty of Murray State University.
The Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa, will be conferred upon Chao in recognition of her public service, commitment to promoting and protecting the health, safety, retirement security and competitiveness of the nation's workforce, financial integrity, and dedication to helping others build better lives through financial independence.
“On behalf of our graduates, I am honored to welcome Secretary Chao to our campus,” said Dunn. “The successes she has achieved will provide inspiration to our graduates as they embark on the next phase of their lives. We look forward to her visit and her message.”
