Driver turns self in to police

A Murray man has turned himself in to police following a hit-and-run, three vehilce accident on U.S. 641 South Friday.
William J. Spann, 31, of Murray, reported to Calloway County Jail around 4 p.m. Monday. Spann reportedly admitted he was the operator of a vehicle that caused the accident near the intersectioin of U.S. 641 South near Green Plains Road.
According to the report, Spann was traveling south on 641 Friday around 6:20 p.m.when he attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Lawrence A. Murray, 47, of Hazel, who was also traveling south. During the attempt, Spann struck a northbound vehicle driven by Charles A. Grosse, 24, of Murray, head-on. The impact forced Grosse into the southbound lane where his vehicle struck the driver's side of Murray's vehicle.
After striking Grosse, Spann's vehicle overturned several times, according to police, then reportedly fled the scene.
Spann was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Trey Green and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, failure of owner to maintain required insurance and three counts of felony wanton endangerment, first offense.
Murray was the only person injured in the accident. He was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where he was treated and released.
