MURRAY – Murray High School senior Elise Eaton was selected as the November Rotary Club Student of the Month.
Currently, Elise is enrolled in dual credit classes with Murray State University’s Racer Academy. She is co-president of the MHS French Club, and the historian and secretary of the MHS Beta Club. She was honored as the 2018 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen.
A four-year MHS Band member, Elise is captain of the MHS Color Guard and Winter Guard. During her tenure, the MHS Band claimed the KMEA state finalist, second place, in 2015. The band was also the grand champion of the Murray State University Festival of Champions in 2015 and 2016, and KMEA state finalist and state champions in 2017 and 2018.
Elise said the best part about attending Murray High School is the encouraging environment teachers provide.
“This would not be possible without the wonderful administration and support given by Mrs. Speed, our principal,” said Elise. “Laurie Edminster, Lisa Polivick and John Karanj are three teachers who have specifically impacted my educational experience. Each teacher deeply cares about the lives of their students inside and outside of the school. Another aspect of MHS is the extra-curricular organizations that are available. Personally, I have become highly involved in the marching band and color guard. Tim Zeiss, Krista Fielder and Owen Butler have given me a strong, encouraging and fun environment to look forward to each day.”
Elise is a member of First Baptist Church and assists with numerous volunteer position, while also attending mission trips and assisting with Vacation Bible School. She is president and the Bible Study leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She is a part-time employee of Matt B’s Main Street Pizza and is the daughter of David and Jocelyn Eaton of Murray.
