MURRAY – Local author Ed Cyzewski will release his latest book, “Flee, Be Silent, Pray: Ancient Prayers for Anxious Christians,” from 6-7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 12, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. The event will include a reading, a space for contemplative prayer practices, books for sale and a play room for small children.
“Flee, Be Silent, Pray” shares Cyzewski’s story of growing up in a restrictive Catholic Church, and then becoming a hard-working, anxious Christian who could never pray enough or do enough for God. After graduating from seminary, he was uncertain about praying or finding God until he learned about the history of Christian prayer.
Cyzewski is the author of “A Christian Survival Guide,” “Coffeehouse Theology,” and six other books. His writing has appeared in “Christianity Today,” “Leadership Journal” and “Christian Today,” and he leads contemplative prayer retreats and writes regularly at the Patheos General Christian Channel. He has a master of divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and works as a freelance writer and editor. He and his wife and three children live in Murray and attend St. John’s Episcopal Church.
