Writers Support Group meets Saturday
The Murray Writers Support Group will meet Saturday, June 8, at Brookdale of Murray. MAG to host opening reception
The Murray Art Guild Community Art Center Gallery will host an opening reception of Margaret Merida’s “Cosmic Imaginings,” from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 7. Merida’s paintings are inspired by the Hubble telescope photographs and reflect her fascination of the mystery and beauty of the cosmos. This exhibit will be open until June 21.
Scott Family Reunion to be held

CCMS SBDM Council to meet
The Calloway County Middle School Site-Based Decision-Making Council will have a special called meeting at 4 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the school. This will take the place of the regularly scheduled meeting originally set for June 12.
Golden Pond School Reunion planned

Fair entries will be taken Saturday
The family and consumer science entries for the Calloway County Fair will be accepted from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Judging will begin at 5 p.m. the same day. The 2019 Fair Division Rules and Categories have been updated this year and copies are available at the Calloway County Extension Office at 93 Extension Way. The Murray Special Olympics will have registration for Special Olympics KY softball at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the old Kirksey Ballpark, newly named Rockets Park at 3665 Kirksey Road. Rabies Clinics held this week
The 2019 Rabies Clinic will be held this week. Rabies shots will be $11 each. No appointments are taken and vaccines are available to pets outside Calloway County. Clinics will be Thursday, June 6, from 9-10 a.m. at the Hazel Community Center, 2-4 p.m. at the Almo Fire Station, and from 7-8 p.m. at the CC Health Dept.; and Friday, June 7, from 9-10 a.m. at New Concord Church of Christ, and from 2-4 p.m. at Duncan’s Market on KY 94 East. WATCH needs aluminum cans
The WATCH Center at 702 Main St. needs aluminum cans for an ongoing fundraising project. Cans may be dropped off any time by driving through the parking lot on the west side of the center and placing them in the cotton wagon.

Marketplace seeks vendors
The first Murray Woman’s Club Marketplace will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in downtown Murray. This is a market for vendors selling fine arts, crafts, food, and will also include retail merchants. The market will be located around the court square and space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis once fees have been paid. Donations needed for used book sale
The Murray Middle School Band is preparing for its annual Fourth of July Used Book Sale on the front lawn of Murray Middle School. The funds raised through this annual sale will go toward transportation and special instruction for the upcoming school year. Donations of gently used books, games, puzzles and toys may be left at the front office of the school until the end of June.
