Movies in the Park to be held Friday

Movies in the Park will show “Wonder Park” at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, at the Rotary Amphitheater at Murray-Calloway County Central Park. A fashion show by Carey’s Boutique will be featured before the movie begins. Free popcorn will be available.

CC Fire Protection Board meets Monday

The Calloway County Fire Protection Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the CCFR Station #1 at 101 E. Sycamore St. The public is invited to attend.

Family Night in the Park planned

The Murray Bank’s Family Night in the Park will be from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the Murray-Calloway County Chestnut Park. (Note change in location) This family-friendly event will consist of many activities including free use of the pool and the Spray Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free inflatables and hot air balloon rides. There will be food and craft vendors also present. The Fireworks Extravaganza begins at 9:30 p.m.

Angels Attic seeks items

The Angels Attic Thrift Shop at 972 Chestnut St. is in need of items as it continues to provide funding for Angels Community Clinic and the Gentry House and provide assistance to other local agencies. Specific needs are clothing for all ages, furniture, appliances, household items and toys. Items can be received Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call 270-762-0505.

Boy Scouts to host annual breakfast

Boy Scout Troop 45 will host its annual Gary Taylor Memorial Breakfast from 7-10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, at Murray First United Methodist Church. The menu will include country and city ham, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, grits and assorted beverage. Tickets are available at the door for $10 for adults, $5 for children and first responders in uniform will eat free. Proceeds will benefit Troop 45 to help with the cost of transportation, equipment and camping adventures.

Declaration of Independence to be read

The Capt. Wendell Oury Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution will host a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4, on the downtown courthouse lawn following the parade. All visitors are encouraged to join to hear a section of this historic document.

MWC Executive Board meets Monday

The Executive Board of the Murray Woman’s Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the clubhouse. President Pat Seiber urges all members to attend.

Main Street Mile accepting registration

The Main Street Mile, sponsored by Briggs & Stratton, will be at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, July 4. Registration is from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Sparks Hall. MWC Marketplace seeks vendors

The first Murray Woman’s Club Marketplace will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in downtown Murray. This is a market for vendors selling fine arts, crafts, food, and will also include retail merchants. The market will be located around the court square and space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis once fees have been paid. Al-Anon support group meets Monday

Main Street Youth Center is in need of individually wrapped after school snacks. The center feeds 30-50 youth each day after school.
