MURRAY – The Calloway County High School chapter of Future Farmers of America (FFA) held its annual banquet last Tuesday at the Journey Church’s FOR Center.

Outgoing officers presided over their last meeting and participated in the traditional ceremony in which they placed jackets on their elected successors for next year.

Three students received the Star Award, which is the highest award a chapter can bestow upon a member. Students are awarded the Star based on their leadership and career experience, and this year’s recipients were Star in Agribusiness Savannah Pittman, Star in Placement Johnathan Kough and Star Farmer Bella Swain. FFA Advisor Jacob Falwell said placement deals with working for an agriculture-related business, and in Kough’s, case he works for the Kough Family Swine Operation. Pittman produces and sells produce with Papa’s Produce Barn in southeastern Calloway County, and Swain produces sheep and beef cattle, including livestock for showing.

Multiple students received an endowment from the Brannon Proficiency Reward Enhancement Program (PREP).

Awards for each individual student will be listed on a future agriculture page, as there are too many to list here.
