MURRAY — The Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Leadership Murray class. Leadership Murray uses the community as a classroom to develop leaders who will effectively serve our community. The programs are designed to help a diverse group of potential, emerging, and existing community leaders acquire an understanding of the strengths and challenges of the Murray-Calloway County area, and the skills necessary to motivate and engage others in collaborative efforts to address them.
To apply, visit the Chamber’s website at www.mymurray.com and find an electronic application under the Programs tab. The application deadline is Tuesday, June 25, 2019. The new class will be publicly introduced at the Chamber’s Business@Breakfast event on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 7:30a.m. in the Murray Room of the CFSB Center.
The program runs every other year and is limited to no more than 15 participants. All applications will be reviewed by a private selection committee. Participation in Leadership Murray is open to persons living or working in Murray-Calloway County. Participants must have the full support of their employer or organization and adhere to the full program requirements in order to graduate.
Chamber Board Member and Leadership Murray Chair said, “Leadership Murray is one of the most valuable and resourceful programs that the Chamber offers. From being born and raised in Murray I didn’t think I would gain as much from this program as I did. The relationships and friendships that I gained from this program are for a lifetime. This program helps the community gain new board members, volunteers and leaders with a stronger understanding of the community in which they live and do business.”
An organization benefits immeasurably by participation in Leadership Murray as a result of the lasting, quality relationships that develop between class members, alumni and community leaders. Because the experience is designed around building relationships, participants are fully expected to attend and engage in during each session. Mandatory activities includes an overnight retreat, monthly class days, overnight trip to Frankfort, projects and community service activities.
“It is a time commitment and financial investment, but we take great pride in delivering an excellent program for highly qualified community leaders. We look forward developing the newest class of leaders who are focused on continual improvement and growing in community awareness,” said Michelle Bundren, Murray Calloway County Chamber President/CEO.
The cost for the program is $1000 for Chamber members businesses and $1500 for non-members. This fee includes all lodging, meals, transportation and materials.
