MURRAY — The Murray Bank recently gave a generous gift to the Friends of Land Between the Lakes to sponsor a new native fish aquarium exhibit at the Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes. The new exhibit will be a 300-gallon glass tank that will feature live fish native to Kentucky and Barkley Lakes.

This past winter, one of the Nature Station’s older aquariums broke, and this new exhibit will replace it. The new exhibit will help the Nature Station educate the public about the importance of, and threats to native fish, including the growing challenge of invasive Asian carp.

The Murray Bank’s sponsorship will cover the full cost of this new exhibit. John Pollpeter, Lead Naturalist for the Woodlands Nature Station said, “We are all so thankful for The Murray Bank’s generosity which will allow us to bring this exciting new exhibit to our visitors.”

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes will purchase the new aquarium from a nearby company in Dickson, Tennessee. It is expected to be ready for public viewing by early this fall.

The Friends of Land Between the Lakes welcomes businesses and organizations who would like to sponsor items such as exhibits and events.
