MURRAY – The Murray City Council unanimously passed the second reading of its 2022-23 budget Thursday.

Mayor Bob Rogers’ budget statement said the compiled budget for all city operations shows total funding sources of $51,921,558 for 2022-23, which is 2% more than the amended 2021-2022 budget. The total available funds of $62,783 296 reflects an increase $4,581,015, or 8% over the prior fiscal year. The increase was attributed primarily to a higher beginning fund balance from the projected receipt of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the amended 2021-22 budget, a net decrease in special fund sources and increase in gas and water capital expenditures.
