Fuel tank removal

A mini excavator used the forks at the end of its shovel to pluck a 6,000-pound fuel tank out of a deep hole Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of South 12th Street and Glendale Road on Murray's south side. A spokesman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the machine is from Chase Environmental Group of Paducah and is part of the ongoing operation to relocate utilities along South 12th in advance of the Ul.S. 641 South expansion to the Tennessee state line. The KYTC spokesman said the tank was once used as part of a gas station that stood on the site several years ago.
