Winter weather creates slick conditions for Calloway motorists

A tow truck pulls out a truck that slipped off Glendale Road on Thursday. It was one of many accidents that happened around the county throughout the snowy day. While most of the city’s major roads were easily cleared on Thursday, the overnight single-digit temperatures created a big risk for black ice, so Justin Holland, Murray’s official government weather observer for the National Weather Service’s Paducah office, warned morning commuters to be extremely careful on their way to work this morning. Calloway County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jody Cash said Thursday that CCSO worked 16 wrecks as of 6 p.m. and anticipated more throughout the evening. He said that since 2018, CCSO had not worked more than six wrecks in a single day.
