Ramona Stephenson, 83, formerly of Dresden, Tennessee, died Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray, Kentucky.  

She was born Jan. 4, 1936, in Baxley, Georgia, to Lloyd Haynes and Tommie Carter Haynes.

She worked at MTD Products in Martin, Tennessee, until she retired.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stephenson.

Ms. Ramona is survived by her daughters Leisa Hopkins and husband Roger of Murray and Lynda Ferguson and husband Leamon of Palmersville, Tennessee; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Sunset Cemetery with Sammy Cunningham officiating. Visitation was from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Bowlin Funeral Home of Dresden, Tennessee.

Bowlin Funeral Home of Dresden was in charge of arrangements.


 

Jackie Russell

Jackie Russell, 60, of Benton, Kentucky, died Sunday, June 16, 2019, at his home. 

He was born Feb. 2, 1954, in Murray, Kentucky, to James “Joe” and Robbie Donelson Russell.

He was an avid hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Russell and Jamie Russell, and a sister, Deborah Russell.

Mr. Russell is survived by two sons, Jason Russell and wife April of Benton and Harold Bess of Colorado; three daughters, Jessica Russell of Memphis, Tennessee, Deserie Russell of Calvert City, and Sherry Faulkner and husband Patrick of New Mexico; three brothers, Jimmy Russell, Jerry Russell and Jeff Russell; four grandchildren, Brittany Epps, Stephanie Searcino, Nolan Russell and Houston Russell; and three great-grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray, with Robert McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Fossett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Treas, Larry Dismore, Aaron Russell and Austin Russell. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to help with funeral expenses.

William Allan Vance

Vance

William Allan Vance, 69, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital. 

He was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Murray, to Frances Taylor Vance and Cofield Vance.

Prior to retiring from Saputo, he was employed as the parts manager at Carroll Mazda–Nissan Inc. in Murray. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a 1968 graduate of Murray High School. Mr. Vance was an avid golfer and fisherman, a dedicated UK, Murray High School and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a grill master to many, and a devoted family man. 

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Vance is survived by his mother, Frances Vance of Murray; his wife, Margie Downey Vance of Murray, whom he married March 3, 1978, in Murray; three daughters, Kimberly Morris and husband Scott, Amberly Munsey and husband Kevin, and Emily Shields and husband Jeff, all of Murray; two sisters, Rhonda Derington of Benton and Cindy Vance of Murray; eight grandchildren, Kaeleigh Morris of Nashville, Tennessee, Blaze Morris,  Kaliya Morris,  Ava Munsey, Lila Munsey, Asa Munsey  and Brady Shields, all of Murray, and Dustin Arant of Maryland; his beloved dog, Tessie; and several extended family members and friends. 

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Brett Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Scott Morris, Kevin Munsey, Jeff Shields, Blaze Morris, Tony Derington, Brady Shields and Asa Munsey. 

Mr. Vance was an organ donor and had a strong desire to help others. The family request expressions of sympathy be made to Trust for Life, 982 Eastern Pkwy, Box #13, Louisville, KY 40217, or to the Humane Society of Calloway County, P.O. Box 764, Murray, KY 42071.

Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019, in Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
