Monette Barham Blackford

Monette Barham Blackford, 82, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray.

She was born June 20, 1936, in Fulton County, Kentucky, to Wille Morris Barham Sr. and Allie Mai Taylor Barham. 

She retired from Bell South Telephone Company. She was a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church and a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers. She had a love of crocheting, as well as teaching others the craft. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Blackford; one sister, Mary Bondurant; two brothers, James Thomas Barham and Willie Maurice Barham Jr.; one stepdaughter, Sherry Harmon; and a stepgranddaughter, Emily Blackford.  

Mrs. Blackford is survived by three stepdaughters, Rebecca Wright and husband Dan, Lisa Cox and husband Billy, all of Murray, and Robyn Looper and husband Chad of Mayfield; one stepson, Wayne Blackford and wife Susan of Murray; one sister, Carolyn Faulkner of South Fulton, Tennessee; 12 step grandchildren, Aaron Noffsinger and wife Jen, Ashley Noffsinger, Samantha Bowland and husband Aaron, Lyndsey Looper, Will Blackford and wife Kristy, Elizabeth Morse and husband Matt, Joe Ben Hendrick, Matt Hendrick, Margaret Hendrick, Gabe Clark, Quentin Cox and Cheri Beth Malloy; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren, Hannah Hendrick, Faith Hendrick, Caleb Noffsinger, Emily Noffsinger, Hank Morse, Fitz Blackford, Brianna Malloy and Bailey Malloy. 

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rob Ison officiating. Entombment will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019, at the funeral home.

Billy Burkeen, 76, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

He was born Sept. 27, 1942, to James Hugh and Earis Weatherford Burkeen.

He was employed by Tappan until 1977 and then worked at Greenfiled Bros. Tire in Marshall County until 1982. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and on special trips, and always loved having them close. He attended Palestine Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Black, and a brother, James W. Burkeen.

Mr. Burkeen is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Roberts Burkeen; two daughters, Kathy Jane Dillon and husband Daniel of Dexter and Karon Sue Perry and husband Bobby of Murray; one son, Mickey Hill and wife Beth of Benton; seven grandchildren, Jessica Baladaz (Jason) of Forney Texas, Heidi Bierderman of Murray, Codie Clark (Shelby) of Murray, Danyel Clark (best friend Cody) of Murray, Braxton Perry of Murray and Chase and Chance Hill of Benton; nine great-grandchildren, Kristian Andrus, Jade, James Cameron, Elaina, Conner and Dionica Baladaz and Owen and Evelyn Clark of Murray; and three sisters, Melodine Nanney of Hardin and Janette Flowers and Jennie Carrol (Mark), both of Murray. 

The funeral service will be at noon Tuesday March 12, 2019, at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray, with Ricky Cunningham, Richard Burkeen and James Keeling officiating. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Codie Clark, Braxton Perry, Codi Alsobroke, Larry Nimmo and Tim Dotson. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019, at the funeral home.

Sara “Kelly” Jane Jones Phillips, 77, of Wartrace, Tennessee, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

She was born in Lynn Grove, Kentucky, to Carlos and Ruby Mae Williams Jones.

She worked in sales and marketing for Magneteck before her retirement. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Beechgrove. She enjoyed her flower garden and was an excellent cook and decorator.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Mac Jones.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband of 30 years, Roy Phillips; her children, Janene Sinks of Wartrace, Stan Phillips and wife Jill and Rick Phillips and wife Janet, all of McMinnville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Josh Chappell and wife Rainee, Ashley Chappell, Allison Page, Axie Vaughn and husband Josh, Tyler Phillips and Katie Phillips; her great-grandchildren, Emily Miles, Jasmine Colbert, Sophia Chappell, Jackson Chappell, Mia Widenhofer and Emerson Vaughn; a sister, Gwynn Barber of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Murray, to Ruble Lockhart and Nadine Hopkins Lockhart.

She was a homemaker and a member of Westside Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband, Gerald T. Parker of Murray, whom she married Sept. 25, 1955, in Yuma, Arizona; one daughter, Sharon L. Boulton and husband Jon of Paducah; one son, Thomas R. Parker and wife Lori of Powder Springs, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jason Goodyke and wife Detreous of Paducah, Ryan Parker and wife Jennifer of Kennesaw, Georgia, Patricia Horsley and husband Danny of Powder Springs, Mallory Strickland and husband Todd of Dallas, Georgia, and Brandon Parker and wife Ocoee of Roswell, Georgia; 14 great-grandchildren, Azyln Goodyke, Preston Goodyke, Makayla Parker, Savannah Parker, Peyton Parker, Holton Parker, Saylor Parker, Adam Horsley, Anna Horsley, Emma Horsley, Price Strickland, Tripp Strickland, Lacey Strickland and Madeline Parker. 

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the Murray City Cemetery with Danny Horsley officiating. Visitation will be from noon until 2:45 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Calloway, County, Kentucky, to Clannon Gamble and Izella Green Gamble.

She was a homemaker and a member of Coldwater Methodist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Crouch; one son, Sherwin Crouch; a son-in-law, Gary Ray; one great-grandson, Brady Ray; three sisters, Thelma Rose, Margie Myers and Ruby Gamble; and one brother, Edmond Gamble.

Mrs. Crouch is survived by two daughters, Trecia Ray  and Gidget Manning and husband Michael, all of Murray; two sisters, Donna Wheatley of Almo and Eva Siress of Benton; three brothers, Kenneth Gamble, Paul Gamble and Lee Roy Gamble, all of Benton; eight grandchildren, Bradford Ray, Brock Ray, Brinden Ray, Ben Ray, Marcus Manning, Nick Manning, Danny Crouch and Jared Crouch; and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Crouch, Tanner Crouch, Kimmie Crouch, Max Ray, Mason Ray, Caitlynn Ray, Audrey Ray and Chandler Crouch.
