To the editor:
I would like to thank Mr. Ken Wolf regarding his article in last Wednesday’s newspaper and his reference to the Murray-Calloway County Community Foundation. Refuse disposal has always been and will continue to be a problem unless science can locate a more efficient method for removal. One only has to take a trip to the City’s recycling center on Andrus Drive or go to any Make a Difference day to see how much is not only being reused but is not filling up a hole at the city dump. This is exactly the type of long term thinking that the Community Foundation was created to assist.
Beginning July 1, the state of Kentucky will enact its new fiscal budget which will allocate $1,000,000 of Kentucky tax credits available to individuals or businesses who make donations to eligible endowments. The credit is 20% of the contribution which continues to be eligible for charitable contributions deductions on your tax returns. The credits have been fully absorbed every year that it has been available. For more information about eligible endowments or details of how the Foundation works please see our website at www.mcccf.org.
